If you see a piece of jewellery which is almost right for you, but is made in the wrong size or a different colour to what you would prefer, please get in touch - all the jewellery is handmade, so it is sometimes possible to make custom pieces (often at little or no extra cost).
How I started making jewellery...
I first developed an interest in making unusual and quirky jewellery through the use of buttons. My first button necklaces, button bracelets and button earrings were made with the contents of my mum's button tin, and as I began selling these and saw how popular they were, I began to wonder about using other unusual or unexpected materials in my jewellery. The Unexpected Boutique came about when my experiments with jigsaw pieces, safety pins and gaming dice produced jewellery that I thought needed a shop to itself, although I now make some additional collections of button jewellery for this shop, as well as for my original button jewellery shop,
My aim with the Unexpected Boutique is to make individually crafted quirky items, with a focus on the unusual, eye-catching and playful. I make the majority of the jewellery myself, although I also sell a few items made by my sister, and some by friends. I'm often surprised by which products become the most popular - it seems that customers can shape the theme of an online jewellery shop, as well as the designer and owner can...
